Hi, I'm

Tiberiu Voicu

Staff platform engineer. I build the infrastructure other engineers ship on.

Cloud-agnostic core infrastructure, self-service tooling, and guardrails that keep teams safe and compliant without slowing them down, all aimed at keeping production boring. I'm based in London. Here's what I've worked on, and what I tinker with at home.

About

I'm a Staff SRE at Moody's Analytics, where I've been since starting out as a junior engineer at Passfort in 2018. Most of my work is platform engineering: core infrastructure that over 120 engineers ship on, that runs the same on GCP, AWS or Azure, and that developers provision themselves. The aim is to make the right way to ship also the easy way, so product teams can get on with it without opening a ticket for DevOps.

That means caring about the unglamorous parts: sensible defaults, guardrails that catch mistakes before production does, compliance that's built in rather than bolted on, and alerts that mean something.

When things do break, I'm on the incident and in the postmortem. I lean on AI agents for designing, building and debugging, but carefully: they're great at drafting, digging through logs and exploring options quickly, and I still review everything they produce before it gets anywhere near production.

Outside work I run a Kubernetes cluster at home that is wildly over-engineered for what it hosts, and I spend more time on my dotfiles than is reasonable. Lately I've been getting into philosophy, and whenever I can I travel to see how people live in other parts of the world.

Experience

Moody's Analytics / Passfort

– Present · London

  1. Staff Site Reliability Engineer

    – Present

    • Designed and built cloud-agnostic core infrastructure that over 120 engineers build on, running across GCP, AWS and Azure and provisioned self-service by developers rather than through DevOps tickets.
    • Built guardrails and compliance into the platform rather than around it, from workload identity in place of database passwords to SOC 2-ready disaster recovery and tabletop drills.
    • Led the move of our core reporting platform onto Databricks, which cut incidents by 70%.
    • Halved data pipeline costs with spot instances and a refactor, and they finish 20% faster too.
    • Manage two engineers and sit on the SRE rota for major outages and anything that needs elevated production access.
  2. Senior Software Engineer

    –

    • Made a heavily used core API endpoint 10x faster at P95.
    • Got every database operation in a service under 75ms with better indexes and query tuning.
    • Joined second-line support, coordinating incident response and leading postmortems.
    • Mentored and onboarded engineers across several teams.
  3. Software Engineer

    –

    • Shrank container images from 800MB to under 100MB, which made CI/CD about 10% faster.
    • Added Datadog metrics, dashboards, alerts and runbooks for business-critical flows.
  4. Junior Software Engineer

    –

    • Worked across the stack on Kubernetes-hosted microservices, from design and CI/CD through to first-line incident response.
